5 January - Set it up

Had no idea how much thought went into even contemplating a blog...#1) all the questions, and #2) all the other questions. So I took a break from the pressure and celebrated my honey's birthday. We made our annual trek with friends to see our favorite acoustic guitarist, Willy Porter. So witty and relaxed. And I'm pretty sure that was me...after a glass of wine or 12. Truly, Willy's talent is incredibly effortless, whimsical, meaningful, clever and his stage presence provides such a relaxed tone. Our favorite is when he improvises a song based on topics audience members throw out. Happy Brithday, Hon and Cheers to you, Willy.

1 January - Shmolar Bears

Started the new year with something I never desired to do but was curious about the attraction to the madness: the Polar Bear Plunge. Celebrated the life of one funloving Clubber, Mac, who took the plunge every year. Mac was one of those people who, whenever his name was mentioned, an inner chuckle ensued due to some funny story attached. He passed away a few months ago from cancer. So my friend Dave spread his ashes across Lake Michigan at the request of Mac's loving wife. Think I found why Mac did this annual madness. It's not so much the thrill of saying "at least I did it." It was more of what one feels in walking to a college football game or awaiting a Blue Man Group performance: camaraderie amidst strangers.
